The Organizing Committee for the 16th International Junior Science Olympiad will hold the Cultural Night tomorrow Monday at Katara Cultural Village. The event comes within the framework of a cultural and entertainment program organized by the Science Olympiad for the participants, team leaders, observers and students.
The Cultural Night will showcase features the cultures of the countries participating in the Olympiad. The State of Qatar is also participating in the activities with an operetta entitled “Iqraa” (Read).
The Cultural Night aims to introduce all participants to Katara Cultural Village and the authentic Qatari Arab culture, and to discover cultures from around the world.
The Olympiad was launched last Wednesday at Qatar National Convention Center under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior . During the past days, the competing students in the Olympiad sat for two tests in Chemistry, Physics and Biology. The students will take the practical test tomorrow Monday. The closing ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11.
It is worth noting that the State of Qatar is the first Arab country to host the International Junior Science Olympiad. Also, the IJSO - Qatar 2019 is the largest in the history of the championship in terms of the number of participating countries. Seventy countries are participating in the championship, 14 of which compete for the first time, such as the United States, Malawi, France, Armenia, Portugal and Slovenia. Russia, China, India, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain participate in the Olympiad, along with Turkey, Australia, Hungary and Iran. From Latin America, we find Brazil, Bolivia and Costa Rica. Kuwait, Oman, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria and Iraq represent the Arab participating countries in the Olympiad, in addition to the State of Qatar that participates in four teams as the host country.
