The Ministry of Education and Higher Education will host the 16th edition of the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 2019 under the slogan “Motivating Today's Young Generation for the Skills of Tomorrow'' with the participation of 70 countries from around the world.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education signed cooperation agreements with a number of sponsors in support of the IJSO2019: Qatargas Operating Company Limited “Qatargas” as Gold Sponsor, Al Sharq newspaper as the Media Partner, Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme becomes the Strategic Partner while Ooredoo becomes the official Communication Partner, Qatar Airways as the official Carrier, and also with Katara Cultural Village (Katara) as the Cultural Partner.
All sponsors are working to achieve comprehensive cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to make IJSO Qatar 2019 a successful edition of the Olympiad. The sponsors are providing services and support for this special event to promote scientific cooperation between countries and to encourage friendships within the scientific community at the local, regional and international levels.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is keen to select the best partners who are characterized by their efforts and full awareness of the importance of the International Junior Science Olympiad. Common ambitions and visions are key to a successful IJSO at levels for the best celebration of talented students from different countries of the world, a motivation for them to hone and develop their talents in the field of natural sciences.
The International Junior Science Olympiad 2019 will be held from 3 to 12 December 2019 with 659 participants distributed as follows: 409 students, 183 leaders, 53 Observers, 7 visitors, 7 members of the IJSO organization. 12 days remain before the Olympiad kicks off, marking an exceptional 16th edition breaking the record of the number of participating countries in the history of the Olympiad.
The State of Qatar has achieved an advanced position in the quality of education, ranking fourth in the world, as the wise leadership gives education and scientific research a high priority. The International Junior Science Olympiad aims to stimulate students' interest in natural sciences to pave their career journeys as scientists. Furthermore, one of the objective of the IJSO is to provide an opportunity to compare curricula and educational trends in science education of the participating countries.
The State of Qatar is the first Arab country to win the honor of hosting the International Junior Science Olympiad. It comes within the targeted projects in the 2017-2022 Strategy of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as part and parcel for achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
